FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
-
How much does a wrap cost? Wrap cost depends on a multitude of factors such as design time, the amount of coverage you are wanting on your vehicle, whether it's a color change or printed vinyl as well. Setting up an appointment with our sales team to bring the vehicle by is a great way to start the process and look over your options.
-
How long does the process take? A vehicle wrap from start to finish can be accomplished relatively quickly, but we need your help to do just that. Quick response to emails, direction to your vision, and quality input can speed up the design and bidding portion. We can typically have a proof sent to you in a couple of days of the initial meeting. After you give us the go-ahead, we will then get you on our schedule and start producing the wrap. The graphics are print on our high quality wide format printers, laminated to protect from abrasions and UV rays that can cause the graphics to fade over time. Installing a full wrap on a standard crew cab pickup usually takes about 3 days in total. This time is used to thorough clean the area being wrapped, removing any emblems or parts to ensure proper installation, the actual installation of the wrap, and then putting everything back together with a final wrap inspection. Vehicles getting less graphics than a full wrap will take less time during this stage.
-
How long will you need my vehicle for installation? Installation of a full wrap takes about 3 days. We are flexible and try to minimize the downtime of your vehicle. Our goal is to get it back to you as soon as possible.
-
Can you design the graphics for my vehicle? Yes! We have 3 in-house designers that are fully capable of designing logos and graphics from scratch. Design is our strength here at LLO. We do ask our customers to try and source their high resolution logos, photos, and other supporting images to help communicate their vision, but we are often asked to assist and have no problem with this! From there our designers send you layouts of what the wrap will look like on your vehicle, and we make edits until you’re fully satisfied with how it is going to turn out.
-
Will the graphics damage my paint? In most cases the graphics will not damage your paint, it will actually protect it from minor scratches, sun damage, and small rock chips. Previous damage or poor paint condition will not be "saved" by a car wrap, and could worsen during the removal process. We always require that vehicles be brought before scheduling to be evaluated by one of our wrap installers. During this time, they will inform you of any areas of concern. Unless there is previous damage or the car has been repainted, the original paint job will be in the same condition before it was covered when the wrap is removed years later. "Burnout" is when a wrap starts to discolor, turning brown and starting to have hairline cracks. Local Legend recommends bringing the vehicle to us for a wrap removal at this time, before it worsens and damages the clear coat or paint beneath it.
-
How long do they last? When properly cared for, wraps can last up to 5-7 years. Garaging or having covered parking goes a long way in helping the life of a wrap. The most damaging element to a wrap is the sun.
-
Can it be removed later? Absolutely. The wrap is applied using heat and pressure-sensitive adhesives that can be reactivated and removed by our installers. The removal process is short and does not damage the paint on your vehicle. We recommend our installers remove the wrap within 2 years for horizontal areas and within 7 years for vertical areas.
-
How do I care for my wrap? Can I take it through the car wash? Can I pressure wash my wrap? In short, we recommend hand washing your wrap. Pressure washers and the brushes used in car washes can damage your wrap in a number of ways. It can cause peeling, bubbling, and can allow water to get under the vinyl causing it to loose adhesion. If you have window perf, do not use a window scraper. We recommend using a soft bristle broom to sweep any snow or debris to prevent damage or lifting.
-
Can you wrap a fiberglass bumper? Yes, we can wrap a fiberglass or plastic bumper, but we do prefer it to be painted before application to help with the longevity of the wrap. DISCLAIMER: Though we are able to wrap these parts, it must be understood by the customer that it is not expected to last as long as wrap being installed on painted surfaces.
